About Deirdre R. Wheatley-Liss
Deirdre R. Wheatley-Liss concentrates her practice in the areas of Elder Law, Estate Planning and Administration, Business Planning and Tax Law. Deirdre’s individual clients range from their 20’s to their 80’s and beyond, while her business clients range from start-ups with exciting new ideas to 100+ year old business ventures. Clients seek Deirdre’s advice and assistance with a variety of planning issues relating to identifying and meeting their personal, family and business goals, whether in a planning or crises situation.
Deirdre graduated with honors from Johns Hopkins University (BA), received her Juris Doctorate (JD) from Boston College Law School, and then earned her Masters of Law (LL.M) in Taxation from New York University. In addition, she is a Certified Elder Law Attorney (CELA), accredited by the National Elder Law Foundation, as approved by the American Bar Association - one less than 50 in the State of New Jersey. She is a member of the New Jersey State Bar and New York State Bar, as well as the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys. She has recently been awarded Top Forty Under 40 honoring New Jersey’s top business owners under age 40 making headlines in their fields, as well as been named to the Top 50 Business Women in New Jersey, recognizing excellence and achievement. Deirdre has also been identified as a Super Lawyer – Rising Star in 2009 and 2010, an honor given to less than 2.5% of attorneys in the State.
Deirdre is a frequent lecturer about issues related to Asset Protection, Estate Planning, Medicaid Planning, Tax Planning, Business Planning and other questions related to her areas of practice. She is also a prolific writer of articles and blog posts that keep both professionals and consumers abreast of changes in the law and interesting new ideas. She takes her role as an educator very seriously so that her clients and others can make informed decisions about the planning choices they have in their personal and business lives.
